Goldsmiths use Cuttlefish Bone for casting small objects by pressing model directly between two pieces of cuttlefish bone. Sprues, gates, and vents are cut into the wall with a sharp knife. The two halves are held together by binding wire and the molten metal is poured into the cavity.
